[edit] Hospital list
A lot of this stuff seems like a no brainer, but you never know what you might forget so its good to have a list and I have a few tips on breastfeeding and labor on here too.
- Soap -Just in case theirs is the kind that makes you dry out
- Slippers
- 2 Nightgowns -Bring enough just in case you have to stay extra days because of C-section or other surgeries such as tubal ligation
- Suitcase
- Lotion- It’s very soothing during the labor process.
- Prenatal pills -It’s important to take all your prenatal pills even after the baby is born for breastfeeding
- Lose fitting comfortable clothes -After having gone through child birth you’ll want to be as comfortable as possible
- Jacket for cooler months
- Toothpaste and toothbrush
- Lip gloss-This is extra to make you feel good and be ready for those camera shots.
- Telephone numbers of family
- Telephone of babysitter -If you don’t live near your family and you don’t have access to family members you might need a babysitter to watch your children while your in the hospital
- Nursing bras and nursing pads -Don’t forget to give yourself and the baby a minimum of two weeks to get use to breastfeeding it can be trying at first believe me I know, but you will feel better in the long run.
- Book, magazine, thank you cards to sign, portable dvd player, or anything you can think of to do (besides work) while your baby is sleeping or the nurses give you a break I know that you want to be close to your baby, but if the nurses ask you if you want a break take it.
[edit] Dad or family member
- Change for the vending machine
- Camera
- Pillow- Some hospitals have sofa beds for dad
- Money for flowers
[edit] For baby
- Carseat
- Three outfits -one for first day, one for going home, and one extra one for any messes.
- Blanket
- Hat
- Diaper bag and Diapers- This one might be optional some hospitals provide this for you.
[edit] See also
- Crochet Snood cap pattern - You might need something to keep your hair in place during birthing and you might not want to fuss with your hair to much while in the hospital.
